Scavenger Hunt Sunday 4-13-2014

I had planned to start focusing on my writing more and not keeping up with Scavenger Hunt Sunday...but I've changed my mind. I enjoy photography and being able to share my stories, so here I go:

1. Neglected
This poor sheep has neglected her fleece all winter. Her barber is having a bit of trouble.
(If you know sheep parts and this happens to be a male--forgive me.)   ;)

2. Signs of Spring
I photographed the lovely buds on this Redbud tree on my wild edibles hike at
Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky.
The buds and flowers of this tree are edible. They are members of the legume family.

3. Last thing you bought
No, I did not purchase a pig! I bought admission for my family to the Homeplace Living History Farm at Land Between the Lakes in Tennessee. (LBL lies partly in KY and partly in TN).

 4. Shadow
The shadow of this tree's limbs create balance in this picture taken just before the
wild edibles hike at LBL's Hematite Lake--in the background you can just barely see a
bit ofwater spilling over the spillway.

 5. Four Things
Alyson felt she should be in the picture along with the four cast-iron skillets hanging on the wall. Next time, I may get her to wear the pioneer dress I made her--would make for a cute photo.

Thanks for joining me on this photographic journey. All of my pictures this week were taken at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. If you have never visited, you are missing out! Follow me or check back for future posts on LBL. We will be visiting frequently over the next months as I am researching and writing a book based in the area.

    1. Karen, the animals are definitely my daughter's favorite part about visiting...so long as she doesn't see a snake. :)

  2. Sounds like a great place to visit and learn new things.
Oh that sheep does not look to be having a fun time.
    Cute Pig
The Redbud tree is so pretty, somehow though I just can't picture myself eating tree parts.
Love your little girl with the cast iron skillets, the Pioneer Dress would make for a super cute shot.

    1. Ida, LBL is definitely one of our favorite fun learning places. Because we home-school, we end up going there quite often...it is a nice break from the "book-learning." Thanks for commenting.

  3. We saw the red buds blooming as we drove through Kentucky last week. Loved seeing the color as we drove along I75. Wish I had known about LOL as we would have stopped. Diane #15

    1. Diane, Sorry that my post was too late for you to stop at LBL. Maybe next trip! Glad you enjoyed the Redbuds--they are beautiful this time of year.

    1. Thanks, Meg. The pig didn't want to cooperate with me--he pulled his head in as soon as I pulled out my camera--I had to exercise patience for that shot. ;)

  5. That is such a cute photo of Alyson with the cast iron pots even though she isn't wearing her pioneer dress. Your shadow shot with the tree has an air of mystery to it. Great job!

    1. Thanks! I really enjoyed finding the best angle on that tree shot. There were cars parked nearby, and people kept walking there and over the spillway so it took patience to get a clean shot with no people.
